Really enjoyed this article on uniquely human cognition -> thank you to Jessica Cantlon & Piantadosi for articulating so eloquently an idea that makes a tonne of sense to me: there are no domain-specific silver bullets when it comes to human cognition. nature.com/articles/s4415…
Seems they process numerosity separated from continuous magnitudes, at least some of the time - like monkeys and numerous (pun intended) other species. Kudos to the authors for never claiming this was counting, despite the review title. Curious what Jessica Cantlon thinks.
