SandyfordAl Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána What's truly astonishing here is your ability to miss the point, blathering on about pedestrians on phones and cyclists clothing. Take a look at the ACTUAL causes of road deaths and injuries please, even if only to avoid embarrassing yourself.

RobOMhantáin Robert O Riordan Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána You’ll be shocked to hear these cars have LIGHTS! Telling ppl both in a car and on the road to take some personal responsibility is not a bad thing, wear brighter clothes, cars slow down all things can be true at once to decrease road incidents

RobOMhantáin Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána The reason they were talking about pedestrians and cyclists on that episode was because days were getting shorter and number one objective for those people is to be seen

RobOMhantáin Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána Sorry to say this but you're wrong
They talk about different topics on road safety like drugs, alcohol, speed, mobile phones, tyres, towing trailers etc.
I be advising anyone who are walking or cycling at night to wear a hi-vis because that's the difference between life or death

RobOMhantáin Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána Use the footpath he says - x.com/CllrCat/status…. What utter garbage, and it's entirely tone-deaf. Start listening to advocacy groups and get down from your ivory towers.

RobOMhantáin Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána They weren't blaming pedestrians for being in accidents if anything they were trying to spread awareness on how to use the road safely because at the end of the day everybody has responsibilities when using the road, especially pedestrians

🇮🇪☘ Sean Cruadhlaoich🇮🇪 ☘ Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána Why aren't they telling all those drivers with no back lights because they don't know how their DRLs work to be seen? And why aren't they telling all those drivers of black and navy cars to put on hiviz?

John Cregan Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána They're collisions John, not accidents. If you go to the emergency dept with an amputed limb, and the doctor launches into a lecture about the surplus 5 kgs that you're carrying, would you consider that to be a helpful tip or really awful prioritisation?

John Cregan Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána Because I didn't see it six months ago.
Do drivers speed by accident? Pick up their phones by accident? Have that extra drink by accident?
Why do you think Gardai, RSA and authorities round the world switched to RTC terminology decades ago?

MOS Robert O Riordan Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána They don't have lights when parked, or when they've blown the bulb or the entire cluster on one corner, or when the idiot behind the wheel doesn't know how DRLs work. Surely they should be telling drivers to put hiviz on their cars?
You'll be shocked to hear cyclists have lights.

🇮🇪☘ Sean Cruadhlaoich🇮🇪 ☘ Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána They get two minutes each month to cover roads policing. In the context of substantial increases in road deaths, they chose to focus their two minutes on telling pedestrians and cyclists how to dress, rather than telling drivers to stop killing themselves and others.

Cormac Bourke Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána Direct responsibility for all Garda activities would be under Dept Justice, so Helen McEntee. Jack Chambers as Minister of State at Transport seems to have a cross departmental responsibility for road safety.

🇮🇪☘ Sean Cruadhlaoich🇮🇪 ☘ Carla O'Brien An Garda Síochána What am I wrong about? I don't recall anything about trailers, but should absolutely be covering drugs, alcohol, speed, mobile phones, tyres - the things that lead to road deaths and injuries every week.
Do you advise anyone with black or navy cars to fit hiviz?
