Great to present @goldschmidt2023 this morning as part of a trio of Cambridge Earth Sciences 0830 talks!
Our #REEDRILL ICDP workshop at the beautiful Sunbird Kuchawe Hotel in #Malawi , supported by Mkango Resources #MKA, is in full swing. Really interesting talks and discussions on #scientificdrilling #RareEarths , #groundwater and #microbiology .
Lavas reveal the life story of the Galápagos mantle plume. New research by our Dr Carrie Soderman, with Helen Williams, Oliver Shorttle & @simonwmatthews 🌎🌋
Using Fe isotopes, they show how the ingredients making up the plume have changed over its lifetime.

Thank you for this award The Geochemistry Group👇🏻🌍 - this paper showcases some of the work that I’m most proud of from my PhD and I’m thrilled that others think it’s interesting too!
I suppose this is the time to share that I’ll be joining Selwyn College as a research fellow in October! St John's College, Cambridge has been a wonderful Cambridge home, and I’m grateful for my 8 years there, but I’m very excited to meet new colleagues and students at Selwyn 🌋🌎 #nearlypostdoclife
Term is just around the corner and as autumn beckons, you might be wondering what happened to a summer of fun research and conferences 🍂🏖️

The end of an era for our office Ayesha Landon-Browne! Congratulations Nicholas Barber🌋, you have been the best PhD buddy and the department has been lucky to have you.
What a great way to finish up a PhD @goldschmidt2022 - thank you to co-authors Helen Williams @simonwmatthews Oliver Shorttle, as well as Dennis Geist and Esteban Gazel. Watch this space for the publication of the full story (hopefully) soon!
👇🏻Very excited to finally be amongst the products of one mantle plume system, Hawai’i, to talk about stable Fe isotopes in another, the Galápagos - and to listen to Olivia Hogg smash her first in/person international conference 🌋🌎
