I've come to expect the unexpected in publishing. With my debut novel, I got the pub offer first (thru a pitch contest); agent second. And now with my second agent, it was her reaching out to me about my first book; not the one I was querying. You just never know what can happen!

My mom read my first book (the one I'm going back to now) and loved it but now she has dementia & doesn't remember it. She'll never read it if it's pubbed either, but at least she read it that once . . .

Write your goals down and place them where you can see them often. I just met the first half of this one!

With writing and publication, things are really effing hard until, all of a sudden, they aren't. Things also take forever until, suddenly, they don't.

All the work is worth the wait though. I promise.

BIG NEWS! This past year, I was querying my 6th book, but had a lovely surprise last month. Ali Herring (is closed to queries) reached out, asking to see my very 1st book, a YA time travel romance. She'd read it as an intern in 2016 & loved it. Guess what? She still loves it & I JUST SIGNED WITH HER!

I’ve come to realise how completely inaccurate it is to think that the amount of full requests you get is directly correlated to an offer of rep. It genuinely only takes one yes from the right agent. Even if you only have one full request out there, it might be the right one✨

Do authors need to share absolutely every facet of their life when querying or signing with an agent? No. Just be honest, authentic, and generally non-dickish and you should be just fine.

Never underestimate the sheer, pathetic vitriol that TSwift haters are willing to spew on social media. Made one comment in support of her and was attacked by at least a dozen men (with very small genitals, I'm sure). 😆
