Councillor Nick Gowrley was elected Stowmarket Town Mayor by his fellow Councillors on Wednesday 17th May at the Annual Town Meeting.

The new Mayor will be supporting two local charities, Stowmarket Relief Trust and AJ's Legacy, throughout his 12-month term of office.

Just finished my second Citizenship ceremony at Suffolk County Council Headquarters, some 40 people have just been given their British Citizen Certificates, a proud moment for them, and Suffolk. #suffolk County

An honour to represent Suffolk County Council at S. A. C Luke Southgate Remembrance service on the Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds. Luke lost his life in Afghanistan in 2010 while protecting an RAF Airfield. Gone but never forgotten.

What an extraordinary morning, being give the opportunity to represent His Majesty King Charles III, and our Government in welcoming 11 new British citizens to Suffolk and Great Britain. bestowing on them there British Citizenship was an Honour.

Just spent a thoughtful morning at the Holocaust Memorial in Bury St Edmunds Abbey Gardens, at the annual Holocaust Memorial Day Service. The Ukrainian Poem read by Alina in Ukrainian, was a reminder that there are still atrocities going on around the world. Will we ever learn?

It’s always a privilege to support one of our Schools, Howard Community Academy opened there refurbished Sports Barn today, this facility will give the children the opportunity to learn new sports, keep them fit and healthy.

What a special occasion, our Ipswich BSC Multicultural Services has just been awarded “The Queens Award For Voluntary Service 2022 by our Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk Judith Shallow. The support give to all there Community groups is remarkable, a tribute to all their volunteers.

Many congratulations to Adnams at Reydon Distribution Centre, who received The Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2022. This is the 3rd time Adnams has been recognised for all they do. Lady Clare Countess of Euston presented Jonathan Adnams OBE and Dr Andy Wood with a signed Scroll.
