I defer to Marginal Revolution's take in general, but on this specific point, I agree with Christopher Phelan. Back in the day, 'RTs != Endorsements' but I think this would count.

Just in case anyone is still denying that anti-semitism has permeated segments of academia.

No, not everyone that criticizes Israel is anti-semitic. Most probably aren't. But if you keep denying that at least a significant minority is anti-semitic, you're being willfully blind.

The non-economics departments of my university continue to distinguish themselves.

My mother was a portrait artist and I grew up watching her paint. So I have opinions on every portrait I see. The face on this one is excellent. It captures Charles, which isn't easy. The rest calls attention to itself, rather than its subject. It is very distracting.

Christopher Phelan In the Fed we literally cannot reimburse AirBnB or extended stay. How could we persuade the System to modify this to make it more “family friendly”?

Christopher Phelan Not only is this wrong, but it’s so misguided. The VAST majority of Israeli academics are left leaning, anti-Netanyahu, pro 2-state solution… is this the group that should be alienated?! Ugh!

Did this get approved by an IRB?

I don't see how this can be considered ethical. Why don't any of the women who were in the control group have a legitimate complaint against the tweeters?

They purposely intervened to help others compete for a limited number of AP positions

The faculty aren’t the problem. Faculty have huge incentive to publish and teach. There’s nothing for indoctrination.

Those who cannot publish and teach move on — often to administration. There, the incentives are to adhere the the most novel orthodoxy.

Dear economics community, isn’t it better if we work on social justice as opposed to other humanities? Given these reaction - which I’ve also done in the past - should we be surprised about the status of our campuses?

Perhaps I should know better not to provoke people on Twitter so I have to have discussions with them!! :-) In any case, a big chunk of our society these days cares about the issue I agree that most often the solutions they come up with are problematic but the problems are real.

“This is what happens with juvenile, virtue-signaling, childless sociopaths think their pet cause is more important than other people's lives & loved ones.”

Brilliantly described. That political leaders didnt send police is mind blowing (as Christopher Phelan noted elsewhere)
