Publication day :-) We are so happy to see this out in the world! (Interviewees: you’ll be receiving information very shortly about how to get your free copy). It was such a privilege to hear all these stories from so many women - this book is for them.

Coalfield women support the UCU strike (obviously!) and also think that if people managed to stay out for a *whole year* during the miners' strike, most lecturers probably can afford to go on strike for 10 days tbh

Just had the best 2 days XP. School talking with the year 7s all about the miners' strike in Doncaster - so impressed with how engaged and enthusiastic the students were! Thank you to Sarah Hannam for organising it, and all the XP staff for all their help.

We’re very sad to hear of the death of Hywel Francis. He gave us some really useful information about the strike in S Wales when we were interviewing his wife Mair for the project,+ by all accounts was a lovely man. Our thoughts are with Mair + his family. google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.…

An explosion at Oaks Colliery, Barnsley, killed 383 men and boys in 1866 – the worst pit disaster in English history.

A strike 2 years earlier for safer conditions was broken by the use of scab labour and evictions. 169 unrecovered bodies remain entombed at the site
