This letter and piece was lead by Colin Carlson and Dr Alexandra Phelan in a true equitable authorship and partnership between Global South and Global North. It is time to unite to make sure that we learn from our mistakes and help to prepare the world to avoid a pandemic.

It is a crucial time to put pressure in government and police makers as the pandemic Agreement., The Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) System need to ensure equitable access to vaccines, diagnostics and therapies if we were to be better prepared to the next pandemic.

Developing countries, like Indonesia, produced key data on Flu that was used to vaccines, which they did not get access. The same with Zika, Dengue and Chikungunya genomes in Latin America and Brazil..

An important piece that we co-authored nature today on the need of benefit to countries producing pathogen data. Multiple vaccines were produced with variants discovered in Africa and Africa was at the end of the queue with 100,000s of avoidable COVID deaths. 1/n…
