I was deeply troubled to hear of the death of Alexei Navalny, who gave voice to the hopes and dreams of the Russian people. His death will not extinguish their desire for freedom, and one day the tyranny that oppresses them will end. May Navalny rest in peace.

Remembering today the legacy left by the first woman to serve on the Supreme Court, Sandra Day O’Connor.  She was a Stanford University alumna and spent her post-court years advocating for civics education. She was an important trailblazer in the American story and a friend. Rest in Peace.
