Today I joined ConnectedCommunities to celebrate and tour the Greenwood Project, which will create renewed spaces across for residents to enjoy. Assemblymember Demond Meeks & I presented a proclamation to celebrate the occasion and all that Connected Communities does for Rochester!

We are so excited to share more amazing news with you all! The BFA Project is fully funded and is moving forward! The Beechwood Family Apartments will provide quality, affordable housing to 54 families. What better way to utilize various scattered vacant lots than with families?

Neighborhoods are where it’s at.

The Greenwood District in Tulsa Oklahoma aka Black Wall Street inspired this project! It was one of the most thriving African-American communities in the U.S. before it was burned down due to racial violence. This project is the beginning of systemic change within our community!

I had a great time meeting Rochester families today at ConnectedCommunities’s annual Fall Extravaganza! We talked about the importance of prioritizing youth mental health and investing in our communities, and passed out bookbags and school supplies donated by 1199SEIU💫. 💪🏾
