Great last CornellBiolabs lecture. We finished the semester strong. Now it is time to revisit our #criticalthinking exercise. Here is the crow: 🐦⬛
Many thanks to Lisa M.P. Munoz for the inspiring talk this morning. It was great to hear about what it means to be a scientist now, and use #activelearning like “draw a scientist” & Poll Everywhere to engage the 300+ students. #cuinthelab
Stupendously excited to return to my alma mater Cornell University to talk about gender equity in science, 11/6. In addition to a public lecture, honored to be invited as a guest lecturer for Cornell UniversityBiolabs #CUSciStory Cornell UniversitySciComm

The CornellBiolabs & Mark A. Sarvary hosted 4 visitors from the Hungarian University of Ag & Life Sciences. These PIs hosted Cornell CALS students in their research labs since 2019. They met w/their former students, visited Cornell AgriTech & met Dean Benjamin Z Houlton 🌍 & other professors
In today’s CornellBiolabs lecture Mark A. Sarvary discussed #climatechange & engaged the students using fingerlakesclimatefund.org website where they calculated the carbon footprint of their travels.
It also brings their attention to this great Ithaca based non-profit. #cuinthelab
My favorite CornellBiolabs lectures are the ones given by Cornell Grad School lab instructor to present their own research to 400 biology undergrads. They showcase the wonderful diversity of research @cornell.First of the series was presented by Ron, Katie Herr & Connor. #cuinthelab
Celebrated Chancellor John B. King award w/Cornell CALS leadership Benjamin Z Houlton 🌍, Dr. Corrie Moreau, Sahara Byrne & Esther Angert.
Congrats to fellow recipients Julie M Goddard, Andrea Poag, Dawn Schrader & Catherine Ervay
Honored to be selected for teaching CornellBiolabs & Cornell SciComm
Summer Cornell SCE students enjoyed learning about field research, experimental design & climate change on the Floating classroom on Cayuga Lake. Great reflections on their experiences in the following lab! #cuinthelab #flx #ithaca #summerschool

Congrats to Sudan Kariuki for receiving the Cornell CALS outstanding TA award for teaching CornellBiolabs!
Sudan taught the course for multiple semesters, incl. the transition to online learning. She’ll return next year to teach while finishing her PhD Eco and Evo Biology!

Thanks to Cornell CALS for inviting CornellBiolabs student Frieda Nemon, undergrad TA Sanah Ahmed, DBER postdoc Joseph Ruesch & program director Mark A. Sarvary to the 'Lunch & Learn' discussion on how to balance flexibility & structure and handle assignment extension requests.
.CornellBiolabs taught by 12 Cornell Grad School lab instructors. These excellent teachers are also great scientists, conducting research in diverse fields of #biology .
This semester students can see their work in a 3-lecture series & share their enthusiasm for science! #cuinthelab
