The Blue Shark (Prionace glauca) representing the #SundayFishSketch #EarthDay #fishytheme “imperiled by plastic.” According to research, they’re a marine species of high concern due to their threatened status, vulnerability to overfishing, and frequent plastic ingestion.
#SundayFishSketch creator, Dr. Rene P. Martin, wished to see “drawings of deep-sea fishes” to celebrate her birthday. Here is a Barreleyes or Spook Fish (Opisthoproctus Soleatus), a small deep-sea fish found in tropical-to-temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, & Indian Oceans.
A Bull Shark (Carcharhinus leucas) for #SundayFishSketch . Called the Zambezi shark in Africa and Lake Nicaragua shark in Nicaragua, they’re found worldwide in warm, shallow waters along coasts and in rivers. Known for its aggressiveness, they thrive in both salt and fresh water.
A Leafy Seadragon (Phycodurus eques) for the #SundayFishSketch #FishyTheme “Monday’s April Fool's Day, so sketch a prankster/jokester fish (one with lures, pretending to be other things…).” Is it a fish? Seaweed? They’re the marine emblem of Australia’s state of South Australia.
The Eurasian Magpie (Pica pica) is found across the northern part of the Eurasian continent. It is believed to be not only among the most intelligent of birds, but also holds a place among the most intelligent of all animals. Sketch for the March #BirdWhisperer prompt.
