Great article on a great scientist (and person). But “sport psychology unknown in England in the 90s, except at Loughborough”?! Hate it when journalists don’t research their facts!
England can win the Euros – but they have to nail penalties’

Greg Spencer We all get in our bubbles that we can learn a lot from. How that bubble operates will be crucial to the learning taken from it. We (@DCGreyMattersUK Rosie Collins) talk about this in the vampires & wolves paper researchgate.net/publication/26…

It’s called observational learning or modelling. Happens across a lot of movements. I walk like my Dad although he never coached me!

Absolutely not what I am saying. Please see tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…. I am suggesting the most parsimonious and effective answers. Constraints don’t do that all the time

Agreed, But please note that this explicit knowledge, and how it might be developed, is in contrast to some of teh oideas espused by CL:A. Happy to discuss this with you off line. I have linked up so you can DM and arrange.

Excellent idea. With regard to lifelong PA I always worry that we haven’t equipped them to take the opportunities

That’s the frustration mate. Methods to do so have been around since 1908. But certain epistemological positions don’t want to use them. It’s almost a motor control version of Skinnerian Behaviourism

Interesting and well overdue. However I also feel there needs to be some discussion and consensus on what sports psychiatrists DON’T do. As a counselling and performance psychologist I find the degree of takeover not useful for clients
