We are saying a fond farewell to our Collections Manager, Rachael Smith, after 5 years at the Birthplace. Her contributions to the museum have been foundational to getting us where we are today.

The 'CashBack Summer' Programme might be over but we are reflecting on another fantastic project with Impact Arts! We had some fantastic creative works inspired by our museum collection and grounds — well done to all the young people involved!

Through the NMS Partnerships Exchange Project, our Community Researchers were able to test a fibre urn from the museum with help from staff at the National Museums Scotland Collections Centre last week. These X-Rays and images can allow us to better understand its materials and structures.

Last week VASLan was invited to come along to the David Livingstone Birthplace Livingstone Birthplace. Our partner organisations hosted another community fun day along with Police Scotland Lanarkshire, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Scottish Ambulance

Our CashBack Summer Programme with Impact Arts is in full swing!

The group have already had a productive first week exploring the museum, examining our collections, and breaking down themes of decolonisation and restitution in heritage.
