Simon & Schuster celebrated its 100th birthday on Tuesday night.  I wasn’t invited to their big gala (Gee, thanks), but I have published 12 books with S&S, and this box set.

I guess while everybody else in America has eclipsemania, I’m the only eclipse curmudgeon. Why don’t they call it what it is—a coincidence?...

...Last summer in California I viewed a partial eclipse with special glasses. So I saw a sliver of the sun covered by the moon. BIG DEAL! Yet a million “eclipse tourists” booked every hotel room in Buffalo NY to witness two minutes of “totality” this afternoon...

...I bet his photo is way better than anything they’re likely to see. And you can stare at it without suffering retinal damage...

...Another thing: every time there’s an eclipse they say there won’t be another one for decades. But then, every year or two, there’s ANOTHER one! What’s up with THAT?

TEACHERS: Do your kids make pamphlet book reports?  Easton, a 6th grader in Nevada, read my baseball card adventure “Jim & Me” and summarized it for his teacher Mrs. Ponce. They’re going to use Easton’s pamphlet to encourage other kids to check out the book.

Librarians are so creative. Liz Asta of the Poughkeepsie Public Library made this “Put Miss Nichol In a Pickle” game for the kids at the Poughkeepsie Book Festival last Saturday.
