To say that I’m excited about reading #SmallBombAtDimperley is an understatement!
That I managed to save a new Lissa Evans novel for my hols without sneaking even a chapter is a flipping miracle!
Today’s the day…I’m going in!

#TheWakes was absolutely one of my favourite novels of 2023 when I read it in hardback & now it’s in paperback I can’t recommend it enough: offbeat themes, friendship, warmth, humour and a little sadness make for a genuinely life-affirming read

First book of my hols has been 1970s-rural-set #LevitationForBeginners #SuzannahDunn , which focuses on girls in the final year of primary school & on the brink of adolescence. With a superb ear for dialogue, it moves from period charm into darker territory & I absolutely loved it

When you’re reading a gripping old volume of crime short stories, but there’s a hole in one of the cases 🙄

After the daffodils, the dandelions. Close behind, the bluebells and stitchwort, and then wild garlic, galaxies of white stars in dark woodlands, leading the way for froths of cow parsley and acres of buttercups. I feel so lucky to be able to tell the time with flowers.

So yesterday was apparently the squillionth anniversary of #Playschool and I astounded my husband by singing the whole theme song word perfectly…whereas I was astonished that he couldn’t remember the words!
