NEW: ETFO says it will not accept the binding arbitration deal the province is offering teachers unions.

“The Ford government cannot be trusted,” says ETFO president Karen Brown.

Instead, the union wants conciliation for this round of bargaining.

It's absolutely wild that teachers have to fight tooth and nail against the government and boards of education just to secure improvements for students!

It's curious OSSTF would agree to this now

Parties can always agree to refer dispute to arb if it makes sense once bargaining reaches impasse. Later.

So ask yourself why would OSSTF surrender strike threat now, 2 months' before a random date in October?

Who benefits from this?

The following is from the most recent contract of teachers in Brandon, MB where they implemented a COLA clause. This is exactly how 's proposal could work and it isn't difficult. It would give teachers wage protection and eliminate any fight over compensation.

NEW: Who’s been talking to Premier Doug Ford?

Global News attempted to access the calls logs of the Premier’s cell phone (for gov’t related business)

The request was denied, because the government said it doesn’t have access.

We are hearing about the arbitration that the nurses had… about male dominated sectors like police, fire, and power workers getting substantial raises, and we have a government who budgeted for a 1.25% increase for educators. It's time to stand!

BREAKING: Premier Doug Ford directly contradicts the AG report into his gov't Greenbelt dealing.

'No one had preferential treatment,' Ford claims.

The AG specifically says developers handed the government packages of land to remove -- and the gov't complied.

So why have we wasted a year with this pathetic excuse of a government? They have never had the intention of bargaining in good faith. A strike vote is necessary.

An immediate 15% grid adjustment plus 3% per year for the duration of this contract is only fair given the massive wage suppression has endured over the past decade.

teachers have 'enjoyed' an 8.5% increase in wages since 2012 and yet inflation during that time has been 29.3%. It's well past time teachers received a 'catch up' raise!

The cost of teaching without the protections afforded by a union are too great for me. Encouraging student teachers to take on this labour will expose the most vulnerable in our profession to even more harm (legally, professionally, etc.).

Congratulations to NZ teachers who have been offered a 2 year 14.5% wage increase! If accepted, this will mean teacher salaries have increased 36% since 2017! Looks like and have a lot of work to do! miragenews.com/historic-pay-o…
