Last week I led a debate in Parliament on the staffing crisis in Britain's hospitality and tourism industry.

If this is not addressed as a matter of urgency, then we will see a catastrophic collapse of hundreds of businesses, causing immense hardship and heartbreak for many.

Just had our direct debit mandate from EDF 🇬🇧 at the restaurant. We were on £1700 a month, that raised to £2600 this year, now they're quoting us £6400...a month! That's more than our rent! As a restaurant, we can't survive this. That's an extra £900 a week we need!

Depressing. Not even MPs understand that the energy price cap for businesses only applies to part of the bill (less than 40% of electric bill). Why should the energy producers & wholesalers be allowed to destroy other sectors of the economy like pubs/hospitality?
