Control staff delivered an overwhelming mandate for strike action in August, with 100% voting Yes on a turnout of 92%.

FBU general secretary Matt Wrack said: 'The intransigence of employers gives us no choice but to use that mandate'.

When police, fire and crime commissioners replace fire authorities, our service suffers.

Once again, Northamptonshire's PFCC Stephen Mold is aiming to appoint a chief fire office with no firefighting experience.

This is an insult to firefighters, and a threat to public safety.

🚨Firefighters are demanding democracy in Northamptonshire.

Their elected fire authority has been replaced by an unaccountable police, fire and crime commissioner (PFCC). Chaos has ensued.

This failed experiment has been forced on fire services - it must end.

Great day today for Derbyshire members attending the Fire Brigades Union Firefighter Manifesto Rally & Lobby of 10 Downing Street !

Firefighters marched through Parliament Square this afternoon, delivering our #FirefightersManifesto straight to Downing St.

1,000 firefighters stood shoulder to shoulder, calling on politicians to heed their emergency call for investment.
