I also read *Dialect of Distant Harbors* by Dipika Mukherjee. I learned of this collection thanks to Jenny Bhatt of Desi Books ! I received an extra copy by chance. Happy to mail it someone else...
Some news. Since Mar 2020, Desi Books has featured 180 individual authors, 23 contributing writers, and well over 1200 books. But everything has its season. And it is time for me to move on. My mission to keep raising the tide of South Asian literature remains strong as ever.🙏🏾
Great to see #TheBangladeshAnthology on this amazing list of Jan 2023 books. Thanks, Desi Books and Jenny Bhatt.

Popping in very briefly to say I love this 2022 poetry collection by Rhiya Pau (cc. Arachne Press🕷️) for many reasons. Even blurbed it (full disclosure in the episode.) Please take a look and give this debut collection a boost. Thanks.
from Bharati Mukherjee’s 1988 essay:
“Perhaps it’s this history-mandated training in seeing myself as ‘the other’ that now heaps on me the fluid identities denied to most of my contemporary American counterparts.”

A new #DesiReads episode with @raenashirali reading from her latest poetry collection, summonings. Indebted to the docupoetics tradition, these poems investigate the ongoing practice of witch (“daayan”) hunting in India. Listen and read the transcript: buff.ly/3iRwRth
