I was particularly struck by some of the posts I read from staff – the horrific experiences that were bravely shared.

Exciting times ahead here at BMA London.

I secured my national training number in cardiology 20 years ago in 2004. In those days, after 6 years training you could become a consultant.

I was offered an academic consultant post in 2010 and i declined it- I didn't feel I was safe and my skills in interventional Cardiology…

If the consultant surgeon was unaware, what’s the odds on the patient knowing and giving informed consent to the procedure?

Patients have the right to make informed decisions, if they didn’t know the anaesthetist was replaced by an AA, they were not informed when they consented.

Official GMC council meetings 2015

Makes it crystal clear the intention of regulation isn't safety, but to allow them to act as 'medical role substitutes' up to ST3 level

The GMCs position as a regulator is untenable

If you need some complete escapism and nonsense, I’ve just finished reading this book by Salman Rushdie.

It’s a children’s book and full of creative impossible stories.

🇺🇦 Dr Kevin O'Kane 🇺🇦 recommended it and I’ve enjoyed the “children’s tale with something for the adults” aspect!

Please take the time to understand what this means.

4th year med students are shadowing 2nd year PA students.

This is logical in the NHS because the med student is 7 years away from working as a GP.

The PA? Less than a year away from working as a GP, basically a GPST3.

Trinity College Medics Dinner last night - good fun but real concerns from medical students:

- GP attachment supervised by PA not GP
- Reporting to PA not doctors for hospital attachments
- Impact of PAs reducing training opportunities for doctors
- 6 years med school yet PAs do…

There is no ‘backstory’ to ending of 2/care NHS Practitioner Health other than (we’re told) - no budget. To remind, it was established following suicide of a psychiatry who also killed her baby and highlighted the barriers doctors have in accessing mental health care.

GMC You’ve just given yourselves a 14% pay rise. All doctors in the NHS have striked over the last year. Could it possibly, possibly have something to do with the vast pay erosion doctors have experienced, more so than EVERYONE ELSE in the public sector?

Let's dispense with a few lies you will likely hear in the coming days:

Lie #1: 'Israel started this with its airstrike in Damascus.'

False. Iran has been maintaining a constant assault on Israel for decades via its proxies in the region – chief among them Hezbollah, which is…

In <24 hours 7000 NHS staff have signed this open letter condemning NHS England’s decision to defund vital, life-saving mental health support for doctors.

Please keep sharing & signing.

NHS Practitioner Health costs a mere 0.007% of NHSE’s budget.

Are we really worth so very little?

Dr Rachel Clarke Victoria Atkins Amanda Pritchard NHS England NHS Practitioner Health Signed ✅

I am still reeling from reading the shocking news yesterday, Rachel and Natalie Silvey 😞

Several years ago, I had intensive support from PH when I was burnt out, suicidal and ready to give up medicine. My GP, Dr Gallagher, and my therapist Simon, helped me understand…
