A2: I try to stay organized & have my stuff ready to go.

Organization means I'm able to start classes with discussions about what is coming up. This leads to anticipation & Ss looking forward to next activity.

For some Ss, I also provide a list of today's tasks.

Verle Gilbert Verle, that is great. Having a moment to relax from intense academic thinking or learning can really allow a student to come back with renewed focus on the next topic or lesson.

A2. It has to be taught early and modeled daily. It can be like a basketball play at practice. Stop it, rewind it, and go by the 'numbers' if needed. Step by step.

A2: Transitions can happen quickly, so being intentional about planning transitions that will happen between activities will make those transitions go smoothly.

Rebecca Hasson A4 - Incorporating movement in the classroom is an opportunity to teach students how to be responsible when given a less structured environment. It can promote behavior management and academic self-initiative.

A1: In my classroom I have flexible seating. Students can to sit wherever they feel comfortable when they come in. They can also move to another spot during class if they want.

I also integrate activities where Ss have to get up & do more kinesthetic activities.

A3: Well...umm...it is another thing added to their plate. Especially if they're not used to it. 🤣

However, it can also help more Ss have more effective learning experiences in the long run. People are different. Not everyone can sit at a desk for an hour.

A4: Some people are fine sitting at a desk and holding their focus for a while. For others, it can be a stressful experience. Some people really need to move. Stretch their legs. Get some fresh air. It's a great stress reliever & can rejuvenate their focus.

Moving helps a student sharpen their focus, and mitigates stress and anxiety. Taking even 2 minutes every 25 to 30 minutes helps students.

I would recommend that others check out the video of Great resource to learn more about getting Ss up after instead of sitting throughout the day.

A1: Movement activates during a lesson, such as conga line, turn and talk, inside/outside circles, four corners, Mix and Mingle, are some great ways to get students moving around and talking about content with each other.
