Walking my toddler to school this AM, she turned + asked, “Mommy, what do you want to be when you grow up?”

I turned the question back to her.

Without hesitation, she said “A pink whale!”

So I replied, “Then I want to be a purple giraffe.”

This is so well written and captures the essence of a new generation of women in medicine. The nuances of being in the workplace and the fact that no one should expect to “have it all” at the same time is relieving to hear and helpful for trainees like me.
