Excellent discussion around huggyrao & Bob Sutton’ work on various topics, including:

▪️Good & bad friction

▪️“Jargon Monoxide”

▪️Time poverty & its impact on limiting curiosity & generosity

In medicine we don’t say “I love you” we say “that’s not unreasonable” and I think that’s beautiful

In our zeal to create systems of safety in healthcare, it’s easy to forget the human being at the center of those systems.

Systems cannot care.
But we must care.

Thank you for a beautiful piece & a powerful reminder, Chris Moriates, MD!

Sam Ghali, M.D. I first witnessed this as a student. A patient told me that she would die soon. She was calm and at peace with it. Within a few hours, she had passed away.

There is so much about life (and death) that we don’t understand. It’s humbling, disconcerting & beautiful- all at once.

Changed my evening walk to a pre-dawn walk today…

Loved the peace & quiet before the world wakes up, and the time to reflect before the chaos of the day..

No resolutions here- just experimenting with what works best..

Let’s call it life PDSA cycles…

A highlight of this holiday season was hearing from prior mentees.

I heard from learners I hadn’t seen in many years. Filled my heart with joy!

It reminded me why I ❤️

As leaders, we’re forever a part of our learners’ journey- and they a part of ours..

So much to be for!

Our teams, families, work..
But most of all, the privilege of being able to make a difference in others’ lives!

As you near the midpoint of PGY3, it's important to learn the basics of physician contracts. Sherine Salib explains how to assess a contract, reviews common clauses, explores basic contractual issues, and offers strategies for contract negotiation: ow.ly/ERwa50Q3TBF
