I’ll be speaking about the ritual-symbolic opportunities afforded by alkaline hydrolysis. Super grateful for the invitation Dr Brenda Mathijssen!

mdsimants Alice Jolley This was not explicitly theological work, but Prof Davies and I (of Centre for Death and Life Studies) reflect on the rise of direct cremations in our Report on British Crematorium Managers & Covid-19, available online here: durham-repository.worktribe.com/output/2185756

Has the C of E done any publicly available thinking/ writing on direct cremations? We are finding that our local funeral directors are offering them and they are increasingly popular. We've got theological skin in this game, haven't we?

Reflecting on a wonderful few days in Helsinki with my brilliant Digital Death Research Project team — I must say, nothing felt more appropriate than the keynote ‘death rites online and absent’ being presented online and (physically) absent by Prof Davies… team photo needed next time at DORS 💀
