Can we take a fresh look at pacer/ICD driving restrictions for US docs? This Canadian guidance is very reasonable and evidence based.

Shanta Chakrabarti Siva Mulpuru MD MPH I think the evidence and common sense case for reasonable driving restrictions is there (thanks to you and others). Getting this into US guidelines is another story. I think much of US healthcare is about risk mitigation. Not for the patient, but for the physician.

These pacer/ICD driving restrictions are really reasonable. Wonder how many US #EPeeps will adopt?

Restrictions for Cardiac Devices
🌟 #Pacemaker for high-grade AV block or symptomatic: 1 week
🌟 Primary prevention #ICD : 1 week
🌟 Secondary prevention: 3 months if aLOC, 1 week otherwise
🌟 ICD therapy/shock: 1 week no aLOC, 3 months if aLOC
