IMO this does not obviate the need for broad and durable vaccines against sarbecoviruses or at least SARS-CoV-2 but it suggests that we might have to rely on immunogenicity endpoints over clinical ones. I don’t have a problem with that but I can see where others would.

I think it's worth doing but I'll be somewhat surprised if beef itself ends up positive for H5N1. AFAIK there's no indication that virus is replicating in muscle tissues in cows.

A more relevant question is what is Dept. of Agriculture's plan for testing the actual beef cattle themselves?

There is no real rational reason for why but it is disappointing to learn that some people don’t tolerate spicy food well

1/ Are you struggling to keep track of all the developments in the US?

Together w/ Brennan Klein & Moritz Kraemer, we started an open-access timeline of key events related to the outbreak.

As you can see, the situation is rapidly progressing, so we will keep updating.

It is GREAT that we can now protect infants in the US against RSV with nirsevimab; RSV is the #1 cause of hospitalization for kids under 1 in the US

But 99% of global deaths & 88% of hospital admissions from RSV are in low & middle income nations, where the drug is unaffordable
