Sometimes you spot the most remarkable things. Thanks to a research enquiry, I just noticed this 5000+ year old fingerprint on a pottery vessel from the site of Tarkhan. Mind-blowing 🤯

A highly unusual 2200 year old example of a mask for the deceased showing the teeth - which otherwise does not appear in depictions of humans.

Excavated at the site of Sedment by The Egypt Exploration Society, the detail is an ancient feature not a modern restoration. Now British Museum🦷👀

On , I'm pondering parallels between this 4000 year old wooden offering bearer from Bersha The Metropolitan Museum of Art & Edward Poynter's 1866 painting 'Offerings to Isis' NewportMuseum.

This is a rare case in Pharaonic sculpture for women to be shown with their left leg advanced.
