🧵 I think that certainly in refugee studies and advocacy, this is down to the dominant liberal humanitarian framework and its disregard, and even fear of race and material politics, as well as its often uncritical trust in institutional and legal architecture.

In Gaza, a new international crime - educaricide or the killing of learning - needs to be added to be list of crimes under international law when schools and universities are systematically destroyed, resulting in generational damage to societies.

At the #NewPact press release, the co-legislators will undoubtedly try to sell this as a 'historic deal' in solidarity and migration management. Do not believe them. This is the abolition of the right to asylum in the EU.
