One of my first reporting jobs was watching Grimethorpe Colliery Band rehearsing #HarrisonBirtwistle ’s #GrimethorpeAria with the composer. I was warned he didn’t often give interviews but he was kind, gracious- and very funny. An unforgettable day. RIP
