The #PlasticsTreaty should create a comprehensive trading system to regulate the international trade of polymers, chemicals and polymers of concern, products, and wastes covered under the treaty—through trade provisions. #INC4

🚩Primary forms of plastics, plastics products & chemicals of concern are largely traded internationally & should comply with provisions on international legally binding agreements like #PlasticsTreaty . Without trade provisions, the treaty could be WEAK & not without LOOPHOLES❌

In #INC4 negotiations, some countries believe that the #PlasticsTreaty shouldn’t include trade provisions citing WTO Rules & existing multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs). But INCLUSION of TRADE PROVISIONS is ESSENTIAL in this treaty to end plastic pollution. 🧵
