New guidelines supporting a greater shift to minimally processed plant foods for type 2 diabetes. We should be aiming for 35g/fibre per day regardless of diet pattern and that means plenty of plant foods.

Obesity is not the result of consuming carbohydrates. Diet quality is key and we should be promoting the consumption of a variety of healthy plant foods. Thanks BMJ for publishing my letter.
