This was United’s fourth cup final victory, and to date, their last.

On this day #OTD Wembley Stadium. Sheffield United beat Cardiff City FC in the #FACup Final 1-0. Cardiff fail to take the cup out of #England but will succeed. Initial ticket allocation of 1750 each is raised to 4000 in a 92k stadium. Advertised Exhibition reopened May 1925
Remembering the late former #ManchesterUnited manager Tommy Docherty who was born OTD in 1928.
The Doc played for #Preston in the 1954 #FACup final and then led #ManUnited to cup glory in 1977.
He died in 2020 aged 92

Happy 79th birthday to #LeedsUnited legend Mick Jones.
Jones played in 3 #FACup finals for #LUFC .
He lost in 1970 (he scored in both games), then won the cup in 1972 but lost again in 1973.
