Probably the best game I’ve ever seen in person. Just an absolutely insane match and the loudest, most raucous atmosphere I’ve ever been in, personally.

Camera battery died just before the 98th min equalizer so I picked up my cell. The scene w/Felipe Cárdenas from Monterrey:

Rayados equalize in what seems like the 135th minute of added time. Press area absolutely drenched in beer tossed from above.

3-3 final

What a game. What a fucking game.

Monterrey didn’t give Messi any space to operate, especially near their box.

Inter Miami had to come back to the states for this.

USMNT's Gio Reyna gets his first start for Nottingham Forest 👀

The 21-year-old joined the club on-loan in January and has only played 90 total minutes off the bench in the Premier League thus far ⏳

There are exceptions but imo the standard of football punditry in England is desperately poor.

This clip is a great example of how enlisting an expert can really lift the coverage and give knowledge to the viewer, rather than the usual 'well they just wanted it more' bollocks.

In comments at this week's BOG meeting, FIFA president Gianni Infantino told MLS owners to 'think big' and 'be bold,' sources said, including in on-field investment, to maximize the impact of events coming to the U.S., most notably the 2026 World Cup.

Wrapping week with one thought:

Monday, U.S. Soccer broke ground on training center w/ $50 million of support from Arthur M. Blank. Yesterday, Atlanta United FC unveiled $23 mil. expansion of its HQ.

Not a math guru, but $73 million of soccer infrastructure in ATL seems ... signifcant.

MLS and Inter Miami had hoped that Lionel Messi would lead to a new breakthrough for the league vs. Mexican opposition.

Instead, Miami vs. Monterrey was a letdown for Messi, Miami and the league at large.

I'm told that it took just one week for more than 50,00 tickets have been sold for the Mexico-Brazil friendly on June 8 at Texas A&M's 102,000+ capacity Kyle Field.

The expectation is that the game will break the record for the largest attended Mexico game in the U.S.

On Wednesday, MLS as a whole lost a huge opportunity when the highest-profile team in its history was bounced out of continental competition.

Fernando Ortiz shook the hand of every cameraman and reporter inside the press conference room.

“I don’t hold grudges. The handshake (with Martino) simply didn’t take place.”
