The Lake Oconee Academy boys' tennis team swept Wilkinson County on Tuesday. The two-time defending state champion Titans head into the second round next week with a road match against Christian Heritage. Their quest for a three-peat continues.

Last night, Morgan County girls’ soccer knocked off Crisp County 10-0 to advance to the second round of the GHSA Class 3A state playoffs. Junior Mia McClain scored five goals. The Lady Dogs (8-6) will next play the winner of Savannah Country Day and Upson-Lee next week.

Tigers play 2 in Elbert to end their season!

Putnam County baseball knocked off No. 3 Washington County 6-0 last night to take first place in the Region 4-AA standings. Hunter Holder pitched a complete game shutout with 9 Ks and only 1 BB. Gates Lanzarone also went 3-for-4 with a team-high 4 RBIs.

Here in Columbia County for a heavyweight Class 3A matchup between No. 1 Harlem (26-1) and No. 3 Morgan County. The winner takes the lead in the region standings into the regular season finale for both teams.

MoCo goes silently in the top of the first inning. The Dogs go down on three straight Ks.

Morgan County’s Caylem Richard is on the bump. Caylem richardson gives the Dogs some juice, getting Harlem to go 1-2-3 to end the first inning with the score tied at 0-0.

MoCo’s David Denton reaches 1B on a hit by pitch, but gets stranded on base as Harlem’s pitcher escapes the jam unscathed.

The Dogs of Colombia County take a 2-0 lead, scoring a pair of runs off Caylem Richardson. However, Richardson gets the final out by a pop fly. Harlem leads 2-0 to end the second.

In the top of the third, Davis Strickland singles and moves to 2B on an error. However, during the next at-bat, Talan Fuller hits a rocket down the line, but Harlem’s third baseman made a great play on the ball and threw him out at 1B. Tripp Lancaster then ending the inning on a…

MoCo is cooking something up in the fourth. Zach Moore, Hudson Reed and Drew Ainslie single to start things off.

Caylem Richardson with a strong outing in the third. He strands a base runner as his defense makes a few plays behind him. Harlem still leads 2-0 headed to the top of the fourth.

Moore scores to make it a 2-1 game on the single by Ainslie.

MoCo’s David Denton walks. The Dogs then tie the game at 2-2 as Hudson Reed scores on a passed ball. Drew Ainslie also moves up 90 feet to second base.

Ty Tillery hits a one-out grounder to short, but the Harlem shortstop fumbles the ball, committing another error. MoCo now leads 3-2 as Ainslie scores.

End T4: Morgan County 3, Harlem 2

A base-running mistake by Harlem costs it a run in the bottom of the fourth. The Dogs head to the fifth with a 3-2 lead.
