Cross-Government and nuclear sector attendees explored opportunities to accelerate delivery of the civil nuclear programme, to reach our ambitions of up to 24GW by 2050

⚛️ Delighted that colleagues were part of Department for Energy Security and Net Zero’s #Nuclear Hackathon yesterday.

✅ Great to see government and industry working together to speed up the delivery of nuclear energy, as the UK embarks on the biggest expansion of nuclear power for 70 years.

We're determined to speed up the delivery of nuclear power, set to provide up to a quarter of our electricity needs by 2050, while keeping high safety standards.

Today's Nuclear Hackathon brings together government, regulators and industry to find ways we can achieve this ⚛️✅

We are in a global race for energy - that's why I set out plans for the largest expansion of nuclear power in 70 years.

Today I brought together the best and brightest minds from industry to help speed up our plans.

From large power plants to next-gen SMRs, we are building it.

Our Technical Director, Brian Robinson, will be speaking at Reuters Events: SMR and Advanced Reactor in Atlanta.

The event takes place on 1 and 2 May 2024, with over 600+ nuclear executives attending.
