The recent “pile on” against critical pedagogy is, imo, symptomatic of the reductive nature of thinking in the last few years, centred in a cognitive only approach to learning - wanting to treat CYP as ‘brains in jars’ rather than holistic beings in a social environment.

Deeply dispiriting.. This issue identified over five years ago in ISM ‘State of the Nation’ report (ISM 2019). x.com/ISM_music/stat…. I sometimes wonder whether music Ed. community might have done more with this? (full disclosure: I was one of the authors!).
