Governor Josh Green issued an emergency proclamation today in response to the heavy rains, flooding and landslides impacting the County of Kaua‘i.

This proclamation helps to speed up the implementation of emergency management functions to protect health and safety.

Today I signed legislation designating an official state kāhuli, or snail, for each of the Hawaiian islands.
 
Land snails are among the most threatened creatures in the world, with more recorded extinctions than birds and mammals combined.
