Our review paper on 'Genome assembly in the telomere-to-telomere era' published online in Nature Reviews Genetics. It amazes me how much assembly has progressed in the past four years – often ~100X improvement in contiguity and base accuracy and with haplotypes and hard regions resolved!
Exciting post for a Quantitative Genetics and Breeding scientist to develop and implement a breeding programme for artemia - a Knowledge Transfer Partnership between aquanzo & The Roslin Institute . Innovate UK HighlanderLab elxw.fa.em3.oraclecloud.com/hcmUI/Candidat…
Highlighting some work I've enjoyed reading recently: 'DNA language models are powerful predictors of genome-wide variant effects' by Gonzalo Benegas, Sanjit Batra, and Yun S. Song: pnas.org/doi/10.1073/pn…
It's simply incredible unsupervised DNA language models can learn so much!

This amazing video from Gates Foundation stars our own Professor Mike Coffey Mike Coffey #phenotypeisking https://t.co/1ZZ2FBBs and Professor Raphael Mrode. A dating app for cows (well, kind of) doesn't just produce high-yield cows. It can also create a thriving local economy & nutrition for kids. buff.ly/4a78dKA
Great to see #SRUCResearch with partners from ILRI.org and farmers on the ground in Africa featured in this Gates Foundation story on great people doing great things. gatesfoundation.org/ideas/partners… CTLGH Mike Coffey #phenotypeisking https://t.co/1ZZ2FBBs
Awesome to have one of the legends of applied quantitative genetics - Ignacy Misztal - at The Roslin Institute this week - hosted by Ivan Pocrnic
