Since finishing writing towards the end of last year, I’ve been back in practice, between lecturing. Two things: 1) I’m loving it, especially creating slow spaces for interaction with the children 2) I’m intrigued as to why we normalise saying ‘you’re fine’ to young children…

Dr Caroline Guard I also believe some senior management teams in settings do not fully value or even necessarily understand the importance of play for the children’s development. Those students I have in schools for example only see play being accessed for children at break times.
