As part of it's Staff Wellbeing Strategy, HMPBuckleyHall held a meeting specifically for staff with carer responsibilities. Tracey Varela & colleagues gave excellent advice around employer & community support. It was the best lunch hour for a long time!
HMPBuckleyHall celebrated the Eid-Ul-Adha festival yesterday, the event was well attended which commenced with prayers & then food. It is one of the most important Islamic festivals in the Muslim calendar. Our Imam & Muslim prisoners extend special thanks to all involved.
HMPBuckleyHall held its second consultation group today with our lifers and IPP prisoners to discuss issues specific to them. It was well attended & there was good debate around problems & solutions. This is an invaluable voice for this group of men.
HMPBuckleyHall is providing greater support & family access to those prisoners whose children have complex needs. We have adjusted the timetable (below) to give greater opportunity to those families who are generally unable to access our general visits programme Mon - Sat.
HMPBuckleyHall invited the Regional Manager (PGD) to a ceremony to present commendations to 8 colleagues, including Spectrum CIC, for their meritorious conduct rescuing a prisoner from a cell fire. Without their swift action & courage the prisoner may have died.
A 100 mile challenge was successfully completed HMPBuckleyHall in aid of #WalkforLindsay #PSPA raising awareness of PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). Teams of runners, rowers & cyclists donated time & money of approx. £1000. Thanks to all staff & prisoner contributions 🚴♂️🏆
The Governor HMPBuckleyHall chaired the quarterly Queensland (consultation) meeting this morning. A great turn out & some meaningful solutions & ideas coming from prisoners, for the benefit of their prison community. Prisoners praised 2 of our managers (Catering & Safety) 👏👏👏
HMPBuckleyHall, POPS with Greater Manchester Mental Health organised a Family Day specifically with Father's Day in mind. Families were able to enjoy a meal together, play games & spend time with nature in our garden area, which families said felt like they were in a park like other families

HMPBuckleyHall welcomed Acorn House representatives to talk about residential abstinence based accommodation in a thriving location on the outskirts of Manchester. The six-bed, property provides support for residents encouraging them to develop and move onto independent living.

HMPBuckleyHall proudly hosted its annual Carol Service, lead by Rev. Margaret Smith, supported by the The Salvation Army Rochdale. In attendance were prisoners, some family members and staff. One of our prisoners delighted the crowd with his incredible singing & piano playing.
HMPBuckleyHall colleagues raised £58 for Save the Children, through our Christmas Jumper Day on 8th December. This was matched with funds from Buckley Hall’s Community Fund so we gave a total of £116 to Save the Children Save the Children UK
Members of HMPBuckleyHall Senior Leadership Team personally contributed various food items for a Christmas Hamper Raffle which raised £154 for Buckley Hall’s Community Fund which we can invest in staff & prisoners in the future. Well done to one of our Instructors who won!
HMPBuckleyHall say a HUGE well done to Instructor Alan & his prisoner workers who raised £328 through the sale of wreaths they had made with Novus. The prisoners have requested funds are split between North West Air Ambulance Charity and Macmillan Cancer Support.
