This week is #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek ! We hold weekly neurodiversity workshops, run by our neurodiversity lead, to promote useful coping strategies and adaptive techniques to manage in the prison environment and upon release to reduce reoffending.
🤝Last week we held an event with New Futures Network & OPCC Lincolnshire with a focus on reducing reoffending through employment on release.
We heard from a range of employers who provided valuable insights into recruiting prison leavers & the positive experiences they've had.
We want to make sure that families have information at their fingertips when they are concerned about a prisoner here HMP LINCOLN.
We now have an online safer custody portal which will signpost you to the right source of information: prisonersfamilies.org/hmp-lincoln
We welcomed DoubleTree by Hilton to host a customer service workshop as part of #UnlockingHospitality . This focused on front of house roles to help the men consider new job opportunities in the hospitality industry on release to aid rehabilitation
Next on the #UnlockingHospitality event agenda was Kara from Karas Kitchen encouraging the men to consider career opportunities of pop-up catering and self-employment.
She also provided a masterclass on her delicious paella which came second in the National Street Food awards
As part of #UnlockingHospitality , Gemma from the Allotment held a vegan masterclass where our prisoners gained new techniques for employment in the hospitality industry.
The men created a vegan burger for Gemma's menu where £1 from each sale will be donated to LAT Charity
Alongside providing practical skills as part of our #UnlockingHospitality events, we welcomed Only A Pavement Away who shared the support and guidance available from them to help prisoners gain employment upon release within the hospitality industry and reduce reoffending
We linked up with local charity ‘Let them eat cake’ and donated 50 meals to the homeless in Lincoln. All the meals were cooked by our prisoners working at our onsite cafe Berties to give back to their local community as part of our New Futures Network #UnlockingHospitality campaign.
Francesco from Café Amisha & Michael from The Ivy Collection launched our month of #UnlockingHospitality events with a Michelin star experience, where the men working at our onsite cafe Berties cooked a delicious meatball dish & gained great insight into working in the industry.
