@Hackneycyclist

Living and cycling in Hackney since 2003, I want Hackney to be as safe and comfortable for me and my daughter to cycle here as it is in the Netherlands

Tricking the Dutch into giving me, a UK citizen, a personal ov chipkaart remains one of my greatest achievements. Straight off the Eurostar onto a bike for a few euros 😁

'every family'

50% of households in London have no access to a car. More cycle lanes and low traffic neighbourhoods are what families needs.

Rembrandtplein 1982 and today. Not only has all car parking been removed but all motor traffic has too. This busy square is now only accessible for people on trams, walking or cycling. Car parking makes way for outdoor dining, drinking and socialising. No one wants the cars back

Streets designed to encourage physical and social activity are a right all children should be able to enjoy; not just the Dutch.

It requires prioritizing the safety of the most vulnerable; allowing them to experience the outside world on their own terms.

With this and the terrible plans for the likes of Downham and Pembury Road I'm torn on weather Hackney Council streetscene department are on a mission to show other councils how not to design new road layouts or if they are genuinely just completely useless.

If the council are going to insist dockless bikes are parked in bays then they will have to provide a hell of a lot more of them
