But why didn’t you do this in April 23 when Sir Brian Langstaff Infected Blood Inquiry made his final recommendations on compensation & told the Government to start paying by the end of 23 . Why did it take the Government being defeated in UK House of Commons in December to force you to act?
Last week, I requested an urgent meeting with John Glen MP to discuss my concerns about:
👉The failure to mention in the Budget compensation for those infected & affected by contaminated blood.
👉The lack of transparency around the Govt's expert group.
This was his response ⬇
118 MPs from 10 political parties have written to the Chancellor of the Exchequer @jeremy_hunt ahead of next week's Budget Statement asking for HM Treasury to allocate the funds needed to implement the April 2023 final Infected Blood Inquiry recommendations on infected blood compensation.
📌 Yesterday I chaired the APPG on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood meeting.
💬 We are, again, disappointed by the Government’s unnecessary delays to compensation.
👉 And ready to continue the fight for justice.
💬 “Thousands of lives have been destroyed by the infected blood scandal. The Government must act now to provide redress.'
There cannot be more delays to compensation.

This afternoon the Prime Minister will be giving evidence to the Infected Blood Inquiry.
Yesterday we learned that none of the big questions on compensation have yet been answered by the Government. Why not?

Protesting ahead of PM Rishi Sunak’s appearance Infected Blood Inquiry at 2pm. Huge interest and expectation about what he’ll bring to this inquiry. Don’t let us down, Prime Minister. InfectedBloodInquiry
Jenni Richards KC to Jeremy Quin: 'Why wait until receipt of the final report when you already have the final word on compensation from this inquiry?' JQ: 'In practical terms there is still work to be done and decisions to be made.' #InfectedBloodInquiry
The Infected Blood Inquiry re-opens hearings this week to take evidence from senior ministers about the government’s position on compensation. First up: Penny Mordaunt MP, who had responsibility for Infected Blood Inquiry 2020-21.
This is a very important development and one which the APPG on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood welcomes in holding the Government to account for their response to the Second Interim report on compensation.
And a big thank you for all your support on the APPG on Haemophilia and Contaminated Blood
This #WorldHaemophiliaDay I am speaking up for victims of the Contaminated Blood Scandal.
Decades have passed since thousands of haemophiliacs were infected, but have never received compensation.
In UK House of Commons today, I asked when we will hear from Government.
Thank you Angela Rayner 🌹 for your letter following up on the Infected Blood Inquiry’s second interim report last week.
Government must update victims as soon as possible with their plans…
