The reason people can't get social housing isn't that migrants took it: 90% of new lets go to UK nationals.

It’s that there are 1,400,000 fewer social housing homes today than in 1980, because of Right to Buy and the Tories failing to build them.

Don't let them off the hook.

It’s blatant racism is what it is.
It’s scary and dangerous that we have a PM - who is a child of immigrants himself - pushing a discriminatory narrative, now targeting the basic human right of housing.

The most reputable housing and homelessness organisations in the country are warning the government in no uncertain terms about the launch of their 'British homes for British workers' proposal.

This sort of rhetoric is completely misleading and outright dangerous.

It is illogical to ration housing while homelessness is rising.

The sector must continue to call out these divisive tactics, as last week's joint letter by Chartered Institute of Housing, National Housing Federation, Shelter, and others did.

At Futures our key foundations include a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.

These latest Government proposals are inflammatory and wrong.

As a sector we must always support our tenants regardless of their demographic characteristics or nationality.

Following on from my opinion piece last week, it’s important now more than ever, that Housing Associations stand united against the Gov’s horrific scheme. We cater to anyone and everyone where there is need - and we stand proud of our diversity!
