We acknowledge Ministry of Information, Publicity & Broadcasting's emphasis on the need to not politicize the distribution of food aid as the country battles food insecurity. We reiterate our call for the Social Welfare Dept to be in charge and allow the ZHRC, ZACC and civil society to monitor the distribution of aid.
We must strike a balance between preserving our culture and advancing a democratic society. Our chiefs must lead the charge in protecting human rights and protecting our norms. Here's Heal Zimbabwe Trust's paper on the role and conduct of traditional leaders. healzimbabwetrust.org/traditional-le…

ZanuPf must not be allowed to weaponize gvt food aid for political purposes. Heal Zimbabwe Trust statement on Mutsvangwa's utterances that Zanu will take charge of food aid distribution. Crises must help us find each other not widen political schisms.
Heal Zimbabwe has raised concern over utterances by Zanu Pf Spokesperson Chris Mutsvangwa that the ruling party will take charge of the distribution
of food aid. According to Heal Zimbabwe Trust this will lead to weaponisation of food aid. Earnest Mudzengi Sen Douglas Mwonzora Citizens' Coalition for Change EU Delegation to Zimbabwe 🇪🇺

Interesting debate on the National Peace and Reconciliation Commission(NPRC) 2023 report in Parliament last week. In 2022 Heal Zimbabwe Trust produced this evaluation report of the NPRC, describing it as a white elephant incapable of delivering transitional justice. In our 2022 evaluation report of the NPRC, we described it as a white elephant incapable of living up to its mandate.
The abrupt introduction of the #ZiG currency has brought inconvenience and uncertainty in the past few days to the ordinary citizen. We believe the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe should have given the nation time for a smooth transition from the #ZWL with clearer communication Fadzayi Mahere🇿🇼
The Institute of Economics and Peace recognises a Sound Business Environment as a key Pillar of #PositivePeace . Tomorrow's #MonetaryPolicy must be nothing short of a panacea to runaway inflation and uncertainty. Positive peace is only possible in a functional economy.
Now that President of Zimbabwe has declared the drought and looming food insecurity a national disaster, we expect gvt to reorient its priorities to protect vulnerable citizens from famine. We look forward to a departure from the past and want to see an end to partisan aid distribution.
In our #MediaUpdate last week, we highlighted the partisan conduct of traditional leaders especially in the distribution of aid. With the country in a declared state of disaster, we caution gvt and all dvpt partners to be on the lookout for this cancer as millions need aid.
