Senate Bill 482 is moving through the state legislature, and it's designed to make government in Louisiana a secret process.”

Thank you to Jason Hughes and Aimee Adatto Freeman two New Orleans legislators who worked hard to introduce amendments and legislation since the special session to push this important issue!

This legis was amended from a firearm free zone to requiring conceal carry permit in this area. The committee decided to keep bill alive as Rep. Knox works on amendments and coordinates with Sen. Talbot who has similar bill. Appreciate bipartisan support to figure out a solution.

New Orleans Leaders are at the capitol this morning to support State Rep.Alonzo Knox’s House Bill 498 which would create “firearm-free” zones in the French Quarter, Downtown Development District and the Convention Center, outlawing the permitless carry law in tourist areas.

There are 2 bills to create New Orleans exemption to new conceal carry law and as Clancy DuBos explains, it’s needed.
HB 498 by Rep. Knox (D) creates a firearm free zone for downtown, convention center and FQ.
SB 419 by Sen. Talbot (R) requires a permit to carry concealed in FQ.

White collar crime and crimes committed by public officials hurt ALL of us. Widespread harm. They rarely face consequences. Enron. Dozens of Louisiana politicians (hundreds?). Nixon. Bernie Madoff. Let’s spend time and money on this.
