Is cyanotype a photographic method? Yes!
Was it invented to reproduce architectural drawings? No!

I loved Stephen Case’s article here about John Herschel’s helping to liberate science from aristocratic privilege. I didn’t discuss John Herschel much in “Minding the Heavens” because the focus is on work of the kind his father William did, but John was enormously influential.
