On the 23rd May we are delighted to be welcoming England Golf for The Brabazon Trophy.

The event began in 1947 as the English Amateur International Trophy. The following year, Lord Brabazon donated the trophy and since then it has always been known simply as 'The Brabazon'.

On May 23rd, we look forward to welcoming The Brabazon Trophy England Golf

This 72-hole stroke play event is one of the jewels in the Amateur Golfing calendar, last played here in 2015 when Cormac Sharvin won by one shot over Gavin Moynihan.

Heading for home on 16.

While its yardage might suggest this is a chance to get one back against the card, the awkward dogleg to a raised green creates multiple opportunities for disaster.

Q: What do you enjoy doing when you are together?

Alex: 'The issue is we're opposite people. He loves looking at Excel spreadsheets, and I like playing video games. There's probably not too much in common.'

We might be biased, but our drive in is certainly one of the most memorable in British Golf.

Tom Williamson was associated with Hollinwell for 54 years as the professional, greenkeeper, and club maker, but it was perhaps as the architect of the current course layout where he left his lasting legacy.

Despite the current drier spell, April is also going to be much wetter than average for many.

Rainfall has shifted further north and parts of NW England have already seen twice average monthly rainfall.

Groundwater also well above normal across England and at record levels at a number of locations resulting in widespread flooding.

Chilgrove on the East Sussex chalk aquifer saw its highest level at the end of March since 1836!

River flows unsurprisingly were very high but also reflected the fact that southern areas were wetter than the north, where flows were closer to normal.

It has been the wettest 6 months across the whole of England since records began in 1871.

England saw around one and a half times normal rainfall, following a February which had over twice average amounts of rain.

It was the 9th successive wet month.

Following an intimidating drive, a look up at the 15th green reveals an even more unnerving approach played to this tiny shelf of a green nestled in the hillside.
