'Wildfire preparedness and response must include planning for unhoused people and other vulnerable populations'
Great presentation by Holly Mathias on drug use & family caregiving in rural Canada. She tried to find other global research on this topic but could only find 3 papers! Just shows how skewed 'the evidence base' is in my view - so little families research. #AfinetConference2023
Fantastic to hear Holly Mathias from UAlbertaSPH share insights on her PhD research in Canada. Covering so much ground incl drug policy in rural areas, harm reduction & family caregiving of people who use drugs. Tks for visiting us The Matilda Centre & sharing your important work!
Congratulations Holly Mathias on this latest publication on PPWUD and SRH! Check it out!

Thanks to Rural Municipalities of Alberta for inviting Holly Mathias and I to present at their Spring convention today. Encouraging to see so much interest in addressing the overdose crisis in rural Alberta.
Cohort Spotlight: Holly Mathias
25% of Canadians (mostly women) are family caregivers. Little is known about caregiving for people who use drugs (PWUD). My community-based research explores family caregiving for PWUD in rural Canada during the ongoing drug poisoning crisis.
